Ban on international flights extended: Day after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced fresh COVID-19 guidelines, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday extended the suspension of international flights.
The ban on international flights has been extended till December 31, the DGCA said in a circular issued on Thursday.

The commercial international passenger flights were banned on March 23, 2020, due to the coronavirus epidemic in the country. However, the domestic flights were started on May 25.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic and the second wave of COVID-19 in the country, the DGCA has now extended the ban on commercial international flights to/from India till December 31.
This means, neither commercial intl’ flights will go out of India nor will it be able to come home from another country. However, the clearances to selected flights will continue as before.
The MHA on Wednesday mandated the States and Union Territories to strictly enforce containment measures, SOPs on various activities, and COVID-appropriate behavior and exercise caution and regulate crowds.
Only essential activities have been allowed in Containment Zones, as per the fresh COVID-19 guidelines issued by the MHA.
