Amid spike in coronavirus cases in Delhi, the Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that it was too early to say that Delhi was experiencing the 3rd wave of COVID-19 cases.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Delhi has increased to 3,70,014 after 5,673 new COVID-19 cases were reported from the national capital. It was the highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases.

The death toll in the national capital due to the contagion disease has increased to 6,396 after and 40 new deaths were reported in Delhi on Wednesday evening.
Of total 3,70,014 cases, 3,34,240 have been recovered, 29,378 are active cases and 6,396 were deaths, the Delhi Government said.

Among other states which are reporting a surge in COVID-19 cases are Kerala, West Bengal, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
It is pertinent to mention that Kerala has overtaken Maharashtra, with the highest number of new cases. Both the states are still contributing more than 5,000 new cases.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health stated that “With focused strategy and proactive as well as calibrated measures of Union Govt along with the States and UTs, India has sustained its global position of being the country with one of the lowest cases per million population and deaths per million population.”
